Creating the Program

Creating a program consists of three basic steps: Writing the Program, Entering the Program, and Saving the Program. Details of these steps are given in various areas of this programming information.

Writing the Program

1.Identify requirements – The first thing is to determine the requirements of the NCR 7879 installation. This includes information about the communications protocol, the types of bar codes to be scanned, the use of good read tones, scanner time-outs, and so forth.

Note:  NCR does not control or specify the NCR scanner configuration required to support specific Host Terminal Software unless you are using NCR Host Terminal Software. You should consult with your Host Terminal Software vendor or reseller to determine the correct configuration for your NCR scanner.

2.Complete the programming worksheets – Using the descriptions contained in this document, complete each programming worksheet. Write the entries of the program in the space provided.
